As many activists try and try to get elephants out of zoos and into sanctuaries, the winning argument on the other side always seems to be that we have to keep elephants in zoos, in order to educate the general public.
But do you really have to see an animal to learn about it? The answer is no. Today, kids know so much about dinosaurs when they have never actually seen one. With the resources we have today from the Internet and libraries, there is no real need to actually see an animal to get information about it.
So my question is, why keep an animal in such a horrible condition when there are much more helpful educational resources for the public and a much happier place for the elephant?
